Clapsaddle Farms is home to 65 horses at its location in South Weld County near Hudson, Colorado.

Included on the 155-acre property: a large multi-purpose barn with stalls; nine adjustable corrals with shelters; a smaller 9-horse barn; 360 x 160 ft. riding arena; round pens; tree-lined creek bottom with riding trails; turn outAssociation pastures; hay meadows; a three-story house; chickens, half dozen steers, plenty of cats and dogs, and Casper the Goat.

Entering 2010, the horse population is made up of: a dozen brood mares; a quality Hancock/Blue Valentine stallion; boarded dressage horses; 8 foals born in 2009; 5 yearlings; 15 seasoned and experienced trail/pack animals and 20 two, three, four and five-year-olds in training for competition and/or pleasure. Starting and schooling is handled by Autumn Breeze Training, owned and operated the past 15 years by Kim Elsner. A graduate of the Colorado State University Equine program, Kim lives on the property and manages all functions of the Clapsaddle Farms horse operation.


Principal owner is Wilbur E. Flachman, a retired Colorado newspaper and magazine publisher also known to horse-packing friends as Bufford T. Clapsaddle
